MYAA Sexual Abuse Prevention and Response Policy


Mountville Youth Athletic Association (MYAA) is committed to providing a safe, positive, and abuse-free environment for all youth participants. This policy establishes clear standards for conduct, screening, training, supervision, communication, and reporting to prevent grooming behaviors, sexual abuse, and exploitation.

The following applies to any volunteer coaches who are 18 or more years old (for all sports):

All volunteer coaches must complete the following clearances before working with children. If you have already completed any of these for work, another sport, school district, etc, then those clearances may be acceptable as long as they have not expired (please submit them and we will let you know if we need you to do something different).

1. PA State Police Clearance:

Cost is FREE for volunteers. Usually instant approval. Have to renew every 5 years.

2. PA Child Abuse History:

Cost is FREE for volunteers. Maximum of 14 days for approval. Have to renew every 5 years.

3. FBI Background Check or Affidavit:
- Volunteers that HAVE been a continuous resident of PA for the last ten years, must swear or affirm in writing that they have no other convictions that would disqualify them:

Have to renew every 5 years.
OR
- Volunteers that HAVE NOT been a continuous resident of PA for the last 10 years, must complete an FBI background check:

About 10 days for approval. You will need to register online first and then go get fingerprinted at an approved location. Have to renew every 5 years.

4. Concussion Certificate:

FREE. 30 min to complete online. Have to renew annually.

ATTENTION:
If you are arrested or convicted of any felony and/or misdemeanor at anytime after you have submitted your background clearances, then you MUST complete this Arrest/Conviction Form and email it to us at [email protected] within 72 hours.

Concussion Policy / Protocols

Mountville Youth Athletic Association (MYAA) follows the guidelines for management of concussion in youth sports issued by the National Federation of State High School Associations as well as those provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports initiative.  Those guidelines are reproduced below for use by all coaches, volunteers, parents, and players. This protocol is binding upon all MYAA coaches, volunteers, parents, and players.
